[Replays] My pick of the bunch, featuring all your favourite players

So I thought i'd compile a package of recent replays here, featuring lots of big name players and crazy heroes. Following on from my "who can break into competitive lineups" I wanted to show off some games where the heroes I talked about there were picked, though these games also have some great picks that I didn't write about. These games are definately worth the watch, no boring farm-fests here, just through and through great dota play.

IDEC -cd game
Because this is captains draft, it really does feature "strange" heroes that you don't see every day:
- WD + tiny lane
- Gondar to counter treant + riki
- sniper solo against effectively a tri-lane: pudge, riki, jungle enigma

Gosucup: ReT vs fnatic.MSI
- Kebap on TC, loda on sniper, sniper seems to be getting a bit of use since his changes.. didn't see that one coming.

IDEC EG.swiss vs SeleCT
- Meepo by SeleCT. Not entirely convinced by his play to be honest, but then its easy to sit here and criticise. Can a meepo that has a very hard time early game still have the capacity to get farmed and over-levelled? Click to find out :D

Pick League - Razer.CGC (ks.int) vs TeG
- Puppey on roaming shaker, jolie on bat rider.. complete ganking show throughout the game.

So theres just a few replays from version 6.61b where high skilled players have been using heroes that had changes to move them into the capacity to be picked more often.

ENC Final

Tonight also sees the final of the ENC - Ukraine vs Romania, my money is still on Ukraine to win, but we've seen that Romania can beat the top teams, so they do of course stand a good chance here. Good luck to both teams :D

[Competitive] Tournament updates + a question...

Pick League
I really wanted to go over the pick-league matches on a week-by-week basis as they were played, but as per usual none of the teams really seem to care about playing their divison 1 matches and so only a few have been done so far, even though its week 3 of the competition.

Only teams so far to have played all of their games so far are Diamondz e. V. and DTS|Chatrix, and fittingly they played against each other in the competition today. Very interesting picks from each side:

As I said, very interesting picks, and lots of currently favoured heroes completely ignored (potm, shaker, kunkka, necro, clockwork, zeus, bane... you get the picture), gotta love it when both teams go out of the box with their picks.

With any luck pick-league will pick up a bit and more teams will complete their games so I can do some more coverage :D

Gosucup
We're getting towards the interesting parts of this tournament now, still some loser bracket matches to be played before we get right to the final stages. I'll do a full round up with interesting replays when its all finished I guess... just some interesting juicy bits of info for now:
- An under-strength EG side (no merlini or fear) were knocked out of the whole tournament by Club der fraggenden, after having previously been beaten by Non Servitum.
- Big names TEG and TLT remain in the winner bracket, along with srs (now xeo.int?), Apteka and Team-Thermaltake.
- Ks.int are down to the loser bracket, and there are two other loser bracket games to be played with sides that can definately be called "top teams" - SGC vs DTS and Reality vs ROX.KISS

More to follow as this properly hots up into the end stages.

I'm wondering...
This hasn't got much to do with anything, but I thought i'd say it. I browse dota forums though probably in more of a lurking capacity than posting, and quite often I see threads along the lines of "We're entering a big dota tournament this weekend, what heroes shall we pick?". Now, this strikes me as very strange. How on earth is it possible to have formed a dota team that feels at a level to start entering tournaments and yet has no clue about creating hero lineups. I plain dont understand how this is possible... fair enough not being the best at drafting -cm lineups, but having no idea at all about which heroes are currently favoured, seems as though thats only possible if they're not playing much dota at all... which surely isnt the case if they're entering tournaments.

Maybe theres lots of tournaments run locally in different places of the world where very low skilled teams enter that I just don't know anything about, where I'm from in Britain there never seems to be anything like that at all :o

Leave comments to this post if you have an opinion on how its possible to enter tournaments without any idea about which heroes are in favour please :D
